Life Swap
Minneapolis urologist Dr. Erol Uke was barred from in-patient surgery after removing the wrong kidney from a patient, reports the AP.

The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice agreed that while Uke's actions warranted discipline, he could regain his privileges if he showed competency and consistency in the future.

According to the Star Tribune, the kidney was removed in March of 2008. Uke also bungled a biopsy, removing tissue from another patient's pancreas rather than his or her kidney.

Love That Chicken
Kylie Kaiser, 27-year-old of Brooklyn, captured a video of a man cuddling, kissing and showering affection on a chicken in a New York Subway train.

According to the AP, New York City's transit agency is investigating the incident under suspicions of animal cruelty, though there were no reports of abuse, sexual or otherwise, toward the creature. However, only service animals are allowed on New York City's subway system, warranting investigation as to how the bird gained access.

The agency discovered the incident when Kaiser posted the video online to her blog. The video depicts a man, described by Kaiser as potentially homeless, rolling about on the subway floor and lifting the chicken above him. The man did not respond to any interaction and, according to Kaiser, was totally oblivious to his surroundings.

Not So Hot Dog
A 120-pound border collie named Jiffy was frozen to a Wisconsin sidewalk last year, surviving single-digit temperatures with the aid of layers of fat. The dog, now weighing only 40 pounds, is just now beginning to become active again.

Jiffy's owners were forced to give up the dog by a Sheboygan Falls court after the freezing incident, putting him up for adoption. Jiffy was adopted by Patty and Peter Geise of Sheboygan Falls, both who helped the dog lose his tremendous weight.

The Sheboygan Press reports that Jiffy is now capable of walking over a mile at a dog's normal pace, though he still retains a hefty appearance.
