Cool on Campus: Stuart Watkins
By Jalissa Bates
Stuart Watkins is a human resource education senior and the Student Government President. Watkins enjoys spending time on his family's farming operation in southwest Louisiana, discussing politics and traveling. Watkins said he looks forward to meeting new people and forming friendships.
TW: What convinced you to run for student government?
SW: I was very involved in student government as a sophomore and felt a need to go back and give more to the student body. Martina Scheuermann was the first person I asked to run as vice president; when she said yes, I knew it was right.
TW: How would you describe yourself?
SW: A very nice, Southern guy.
TW: If you could change something about the landscape of campus, what would it be?
SW: I wish all of the academic buildings were consistent with the original architecture of the university.
TW: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
SW: Choosing LSU has by far opened more doors and opportunities than I could have ever imagined. These three and a half years have gone by so fast, and it has been an honor to take part in so much at LSU.
TW: What was the last CD you bought?
SW: No clue - it has been so long.
TW: If you could be on a game show, what would it be and why?
SW: "The Price is Right" looks like it would be a lot of fun. I think I could guess the values of different products well.
TW: Which building on campus have you always wanted to enter?
SW: I want a complete tour of the Huey P. Long field house.
TW: Do you have a "signature" dance move?
SW: Absolutely not. I get embarrassed just thinking about my dancing skills.
TW: What was the last prank someone pulled on you?
SW: Prank calls to the student government office are always interesting.
TW: What are you thankful for?
SW: I am thankful for friends and family that have supported every decision I have ever made. The individuals I am surrounded by make me a better person.
