KAT Crawfish on the Clover

[Comment Below]

By Aimee Pitre

Kappa Alpha Theta will be hosting KAT Crawfish on the Clover this Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This campus-wide crawfish boil will be located at the Catholic Deaf Center and it will benefit all Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocates. Tickets are $8 to the event, which you can buy from any KAT member in Free Speech Alley every day this week from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the event.

This $8 ticket isn’t just going to get you some measly little crawfish, either. With one ticket for Crawfish on the Clover, partakers will receive two pounds of huge crawfish, corn, potatoes, jambalaya and unlimited Coca-Cola products. In addition, KAT will host live music by Carson Thompson, a local artist from Monroe.

KAT, whose national philanthropy is CASA, raised $18,000 last year. And this event isn’t new to this sorority, who has been hosting the event for more than 10 years.

Jenna Jordan, vice president of KAT Public Relations and biological sciences junior, is eager for the event.

“We’ve had great success with this event in the past,” said Jordan. “We’re excited for people to learn and understand our philanthropy, which is used locally in Baton Rouge.”

KAT, founded in 1870, prides itself in being “the first Greek-letter fraternity for women,” according to their Web site, www.kappaalphatheta.org.

Since then, the women of this sorority have been some major world changers. With a purpose to see members grow in personal excellence, friendship, sisterhood, scholarship, service and leadership, KAT is one sorority to watch out for.

Their Grand Convention will be held in Miami this June. The convention is held every two years and acts as the legislative body of the sorority. One delegate member of each collegiate chapter is invited to attend, in addition to a delegate of the alumnae chapters, district and national presidents and NPC delegates.

Much business information is covered in order to continue the success of this astounding sorority. Furthermore, the Grand Convention will host several traditional events such as an awards banquet, parade of flags, fun night and final banquet.

This international sorority is definitely going places. Don’t forget to purchase a ticket this week in Free Speech Alley from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for only $8 for their KAT Crawfish on the Clover.
