Heading back to the 90210

The CW is working on a pilot for a spin-off of “Beverly Hills 90210.” Although the project has not received the full go-ahead, details have been leaked.

The show will revolve around the Mills family in Beverly Hills. Harry Mills moves back to the 90210 to look after his alcoholic, ‘70s starlet actress mother. He is married and has two kids, Annie and an adopted son Dixon, who are both 16.

Annie struggles to fit in, and Dixon is a smartie with behavioral problems and poor social skills.

Daphene Silver is the only Jewish girl at their school and has a black boyfriend. She also has a crush on Dixon; therefore, she becomes friends with Annie. Daphene has a 24-year-old brother, Max, who manages the family movie theater.

In ties with the original 90210, David Silver was Jewish and had a younger sister. However, according to US Weekly, these are the children of David and Donna, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Supposedly, the “Brandon” is Navid Shiraz, who is involved in high school politics. “Steve” is rumored to be Ethan Ward, an ex-“in” crowd jock who ends up with this group. Naomi Bennett is Ethan’s hot, rich ex-girlfriend.

So far, there is no official title and none of the original cast members have been contacted. Tori Spelling told “Good Day L.A.” that she would be willing to play a MILF on the spin-off.

Upon hearing this, Ian Ziering said, “Oh my god! Oh, hold on a second, my fake eye just fell out of my head.”

Slam?

When asked by “Yo on E!” if he thinks the spin-off is a good idea he said, “Often imitated but never duplicated. I wish them the best of luck. Certainly it’s not going to be with Brenda and Brandon and Steve and Kelly and David … that’s long gone.”

That’s a fairly accurate prediction, but one can always hope. Just because the only show similar to the “90210” genre is “Gossip Girl,” it still doesn’t hold a candle to what “The O.C.” did to teen societies.

Hopefully, networks have learned from their mistakes, i.e. “Hidden Palms.” If not, we always have SoapNet reruns.
