Woman fails at flushing baby
Ms. Taniguchi, a Japanese woman from the city of Nagoya, attempted to flush her baby down the toilet on Saturday, April 26, when she delivered the baby three months premature. After several attempts to flush the baby down her apartment toilet, the toilet became clogged, and Ms. Taniguchi had to call the repair man to unclog her toilet.
When the repair man arrived at her apartment, he recovered the nearly two-pound baby. Ms. Taniguchi told the repair man that it was a doll, but he was suspicious and alerted the police. Ms. Taniguchi was later arrested and is being charged with abandonment.
300-pound man unhappy about weight loss
An inmate at Benton County Jail in Bentonville, Ark. is suing the county saying that the jail does not provide enough food for their inmates.
Broderick Lloyd Laswell is currently awaiting trial for fatally beating and stabbing a man. Laswell was booked at 413 pounds in September, and after only eight months, he now weighs 308 pounds.
Laswell says that he has attempted exercising but felt that he would pass out. He has also mentioned that he feels hungry only an hour after meals are served. Laswell says that, as a result, he does very little physical activity.
“If we are in a small pod all day [and] do next to nothing for physical exercise, we should not lose weight,” the suit says. “The only reason we lost weight in here is because we are literally being starved to death.”
According to jail Captain Hunter Petray, the jail serves meals that average about 3,000 calories per day. The average person intakes approximately 2,000 calories per day.

According to authorities, Schallenberger said that he came up with this plot because “he wanted to die, go to heaven and kill Jesus.”
Sitting on a park ledge is illegal in Montreal
Brendan Colin Jones, a student at Concordia University, received a $628 ticket for sitting on a park ledge at Emilie Gamelin Park in Montreal. The ticket cites his behavior as “using urban equipment for uses other than those intended.”
Jones says that he observed the police talking to some people who had alcohol, and he began snapping pictures to see how they would handle it. The police then approached Jones and asked him about the pictures. According to Jones, when he refused to give the police the camera, that is when they told him that he could not sit on the park ledge because it was not a park bench.
Montreal police say that Jones was approached and warned many times that he was not supposed to be sitting on anything other than a park bench, and that he was using the granite ledge not for its intended purposes.
Contrary to this claim, Montreal architect and urban space specialist Gavin Affleck said that the purpose of the granite spaces in Emilie Gamelin Park IS to have people sit on them.
“A successful public space develops conviviality, use, social interaction, and obviously sitting around is basic,” Affleck said in an interview.
Jones says that there were several other people sitting around the square, and he plans to challenge the $628 ticket in Municipal Court.
