An international research team has announced the discovery of 32 planets outside our solar system. According to reports, these "exoplanets" were discovered through the use of a high-precision instrument installed at a Chilean telescope. This recent discovery brings the total number of found exoplanets to 75, and it is known that there are about 400 out there altogether. (CNN)

Gang member added to FBI's Most Wanted List
Joe Saenz, a member of the Cuatro Flats gang, has recently been placed on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list after three others on the list were caught. Saenz is wanted in connection with four murders, a kidnapping, and a rape. Additionally, the FBI has reason to believe that Saenz is now involved in international drug trafficking. Others on the FBI's top list include Osama Bin Laden, wanted for murder and attack on a federal facility that resulted in deaths; Jason Derek Brown, wanted for murder and armed robbery; James J. Bulger, wanted on 19 counts of murder, among other crimes; and Robert William Fisher, wanted on 3 counts of murder and arson. (CNN)

La. justice of the peace refuses to marry interracial couple
Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, refused to marry 30-year-old Humphrey, who is white, and 32-year-old Terence McKay, who is black. Bardwell said that he refused to marry the interracial couple because, in his experience, interracial marriages often do not last and can be harmful to the children involved. Bardwell claimed that he discussed his views on the issue with members of both black and white communities, reiterating that he has the children's best interest at heart. (Yahoo! News)
Foundation for Historical Louisiana holds 11th annual gala
The Foundation for Historical Louisiana (FHL) will hold its 11th annual Governor's Mansion Gala on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The theme of the event is "Louisiana's French Connection," and the night will feature French cuisine, music, and a silent auction. Guests are encouraged to dress in black tie or to wear a French-inspired costume to the gala. Tickets for guests under the age of 35 are $50, which includes a six-month membership. All proceeds benefit the FHL, a non-profit historic preservation organization that is dedicated to the safeguarding of Louisiana's cultural and architectural heritage. (The Advocate)
