Gallery's Grand Opening overlaps art hop
If you've driven through Mid City lately, you've probably seen the eye-catching signage hanging out in front of the small building at 3774 Government. Over the past few years, this building has been everything from a payday loan business to a studio art gallery - and it is once again a home to art.
Gallery Bohemia will have its Grand Opening on Friday, November 20 in conjunction with White Light Night and will be showcasing the work of several of the area's best young artists. Included in Bohemia's Grand Opening exhibition will be works by TJ Black, Alex Harvie, Ashley Savoy, Jeff Culotta, Chad Townson and Brian Baiamonte.

Marie Laveau resurrected by HopKins Black Box
LSU's HopKins Black Box Theatre is the place on campus for experimental and cutting edge theatrical entertainment. All year, they have produced some amazing shows featuring everything from zombie invasions to audience-involved storytelling. Now, the Black Box is bringing New Orleans' own Marie Laveau back from the dead.
In Voodoo Queen, which will run from November 18 - Sunday, November 22, performers examine Laveau, one of the Crescent City's most intriguing characters. Laveau's influence on New Orleans is ever present today, more than one hundred years after her death. Donations are accepted in lieu of admission cost for the shows which are held at 137 Coates Hall at 7:30 p.m. (2:30 on Sunday).

LSU Pot Sale starts Wednesday!
You didn't really think what I think you thought, did you? Of course not, this is why you're still reading this blurb waiting for info on LSU's Annual Art + Pottery Sale (affectionately called the "Pot Sale" by some). Well, here it is:
Every year, LSU's Ceramic Artist Student Association (CASA) sets up a tent in Free Speech Alley with hopes of raising funds for both a visiting artists program and expenses for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts. But that isn't necessarily why you'll want to check this sale out. No, the real reason you've got to stop by the Art + Pottery Sale is the abundance of affordable original artwork up for grabs.
According to a statement, the sale will offer "a dynamic collection of one-of-a-kind ceramic mugs, bowls, plates, vases, jewelry, magnets, sculptures and more," with items "priced affordably - even for students on a tight budgets!" Sounds like you can get plenty of holiday shopping done in Free Speech Alley!
The sale goes from November 18 - 21 (9 - 5 p.m.).
