Baton Rogue has a great variety of music and art venues. Particularly in

Mid-City Baton Rouge, there is a great variety of shops, artists, and musicians that make Baton Rouge culture what it is today. It is hard though to experience all that Mid-City has to offer.

However, everyone will have the opportunity to experience Mid-City Baton Rouge's great venues and nightlife on November 20. On that night from 6-10 p.m., the Mid City Merchants are hosting their annual White Light Night Art Hop.

The White Light Night Art Hop is a way for everybody to experience all that Mid-City has to offer. Many Mid-City Merchant businesses are opening their doors for the art hop, which is free and open to the public.

"The best thing about the art hop is the opportunity that we have as a community to come together for a free night to view the best local talent and businesses that support the arts," said Marguerite Gresham, owner and director of the Child Development Cooperative, LLC.

"As a small business owner of a Mid-City child development center and preschool, I am proud to be able to give back to my community and my families in a way that is unique and special right here in the heart of Baton Rouge."

The art hop will feature shops from members of the Mid City Merchants, which will be set up like local art galleries, including Circa 1857, the Elizabethan Gallery, the Funky Palette, the Esom Gallery, Rue Cou Cou and Corks N Canvas. Bloom, Inc., Arnold & Associates Interior Inc., Monjunis Italian Café and Grocery, Bellla Bella, Rotolo's Pizzaria, Victoria's Toy Station, and many other Mid City Merchant Businesses are participating in this year's art hop.

To make the art hop experience even better, each of the participating Mid City Merchant businesses are teaming up with local artists. Each venue for the White Light Night will feature a different local artist or group of artists who specialize in a different variety of mediums including oil paints, printmaking, photography and jewelry.

"The artists that will be showcased at the Child Co-op will be our kids. They have been working hard and will show off to their families and the public what they have been up to," said Gresham.

Additionally, the art hop will also feature free food and music for all to enjoy.

"The music featured will vary from business to business. The Child Development Cooperative will host Dorothy LeBlanc, a local singer and songwriter," said Gresham about the musical guests.

"She performs at Brew Ha Ha, a great Mid-City Merchant location, frequently and comes in once a week to teach our kids at the Co-op preschool lessons on multiple music styles and instruments," she added.

Parking for the event is available at the Child Development Cooperative center on Foster and at the Louisiana Office Supply on Florida Ave. Shuttles for the art hop will be provided from the parking centers to the different participating businesses.

The White Light Night Art Hop is on November 20 from 6-10 p.m. and is free and open to the public. To see a full listing for all of the businesses participating, go to midcitymerchants.com.
