La Carreta

La Carreta opened its doors July 24th, 1998 by Saul Rubio, an entrepreneur from Mexico who wanted an opportunity to offer people great authentic Mexican cuisine and friendly service. Saul worked in the restaurant industry in Pensacola, Florida, and after moving to Louisiana decided that it was time to open his own Mexican restaurant. The name of the restaurant comes from the Mexican town of Queretaro. La Carreta is a common name for restaurants in this town, so Saul decided to bring the name to the US along with the same atmosphere found there.

With its warm colors, vintage architecture and Mexican artwork, La Carreta has a wonderful dining atmosphere that truly offers a Mexican and Southwestern feel. The majority of the restaurant staff are from Mexico, and often create a unique element to the restaurant's dining experience by helping patrons with their questions about Mexican cuisine and culture.

Saul believes that the key to the success of his restaurant involves their excellent customer relations, the speed of service, and their consistency in offering great food. La Carreta has continued to set the standard for Mexican restaurants by offering wonderful meals at great prices in an authentic setting.

Recently, La Carreta opened its doors in midcity Baton Rouge, under the management of Hector Barraza. Whether stopping by for a margarita while you enjoy some live music, or offering your whole family a wonderful treat, we welcome you to La Carreta and hope to see you again soon!
