John Mayer, ice cream man
John Mayer has always been known as something of a joker. Mayer has starred in different shows and made many appearances before, including Comedy Central's "The Chappelle Show." Nothing stands out more than his pre-show acts. One of Mayer's greatest pranks is when the singer appeared in a teddy bear suit before one of his shows and asked people's opinion about himself. Mayer treated fans last week to a pre-show treat before his Long Island Beach show. While fans were tailgating in the parking lot, a Ben & Jerry's ice cream van pulled up and started serving samples of their famous ice cream. The man serving the ice cream was no other than Mayer himself, who was delighted to meet fans and sign autographs. (rollingstone.com)
Disney's big news at Comic Con
Disney has a history of unveiling big news on upcoming films at San Diego's annual Comic Con. This year, the biggest news Disney released concerned a past movie that many consider to be a flop. It was announced that famed director, producer, and writer Guillermo Del Toro would be revamping Disney's "The Haunted Mansion" franchise. Del Toro announced that the reboot will be no ordinary children's movie, but instead something truly scary. Along with that announcement, Disney showed footage from their upcoming films "Tron Legacy," and the another Pirate's sequel, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." The "Tron" clip surprised many with Jeff Bridges appearing in footage looking 35-years younger than he actually is for the role of the computer program Clu. "Pirates" also had a special screening with Jack Sparrow joining in a battle of zombies vs. pirates. (cinemablend.com)
Adams to role as Joplin
Janis Joplin along with other rock megastars like Jimi Hendrix ruled the '60s. Joplin's roaring yet sensual voice could be heard everywhere, and now her life is being formed into a biographical movie. This will not be the first time Joplin' life has (almost) been adapted for screen. Hollywood has tried to produce a Joplin biopic twice, with stars like Zooey Deschanel, Pink, and Lili Taylor aimed at appearing as Joplin, but the films' development stalled and they were never produced. Now being directed by "City of God" director Fernando Meirelles, "Janis Joplin: Get it While You Can" recently announced that they have cast their lead role for Joplin: Amy Adams. Adams is famed for her transformation in roles like Disney's "Enchanted," Amelia Earhart in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," and other films like "Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby." The movie is aimed at a 2011 release. (rollingstone.com)
